There is assumption telling that pilot lifestyle is totally different from normal people in a bad way. Most people who never dated a pilot will assume that they always have an affair and very untrustworthy. This is because they been surrounded with pretty cabin crew and they meet different kind of amazing 'things' outside there everyday!. However, dating a pilot might be right for a different kind of person. If you are someone who hates to be alone, doesn't love to travel or have trust issue, you might not the right person to be with a pilot. But for those who have partner in the sky, here some tips that might help to maintain your relationship.
COMMUNICATION :
As for me, this is the most important part in relationship. It doesn't matter if your boyfriend is in the sky or just right here beside you. You have to communicate, at least say hi and tell what going on there at your place. Update each other on what happening or maybe share her how was your day going. You may also share what you eat, how your look for that day and it has to be consistent. Most of the relationship fail because lack of communication. They only communicate at the beginning when they try to get to know each other, after that no more.
Today's technology has already advance and if you think its very hard to send at least one message just to check on your love ones, there must be something wrong with you. As for a girl, a message from you to check on her, already make her day. Same goes to if you have something to talk to her/him, just straight to the point and don't expect people to read your mind. Its not going to happened.
BE FLEXIBLE :
Dating an airline pilot might need you to constantly checking on each other schedule, this is because as mention above they will have sudden schedule changes. Sometimes when you already plan your vacation but suddenly you have to cancel everything because of that, this part really need full understanding that you are dating A PILOT! However it would not remain forever that way, when their work already stable, they might have a stable schedule as well, all you need to do is be patient a bit. You may also plan our vacation or any celebration month by month and must willing to adjust it if its necessary.
FIND A HOBBY :
This part I think could be good if you are staying alone while your partner is in the sky. Find something interesting to do, because when you are busy, time will pass very fast so you wouldnt feel so lonely. Try to occupy your time on weekend, make more friend, go hang out..dont sit at home and feel sorry for yourself (it always happened).
TAKE INTEREST IN THEIR JOB :
I think this is the hardest time, for a girl its very hard to understand the fact that they have to be apart from the love ones, what you can do is try to find interest in what your partner are doing. For me, I dont really know how pilot job it is. But i try to figure out and trust me its pretty interesting (I ask every single thing that he tell me..especially when it come to thing i never heard before). When you keep same interest, thing will get easier. You know what going on there and he will feel better that finally he found someone who understand his passion.
TRAVEL TOGETHER :
This will be the best part of it, you can actually just go and see other places together (im looking forward for this). That is why, its good to have someone who support what we are doing because at the end, you guys can celebrate it by go and travel the world together. If possible you can also just jump into other flight and meet him somewhere.
I hope, this can help others who currently dating a pilot or have a pilot partner, not all of them are bad and untrustworthy. The thing is you have to learnt appreciate what you and your partner have, time is precious thing that totally cant be repay, when you have opportunity to spend time together just go and don't forget to thank him for dropping by, trust me he will be more than happy to know that you are looking forward to meet him again.
